Baubles by Gretchen
I had the pleasure of having a holiday shopping and eating excursion with JMS contributors Gretchen Schaumann and Lanette Lorsung on Sunday and Gretchen shared with us a few of her beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces she creates from vintage buttons and baubles.
Fifteen Minute Laundry Room Fix
Organization is the name of the game in January. Is there a better place to start this never ending journey than in the laundry room? Not in my house!
How to Make a Quiche Pan Frame
Since my daughter has become a vegan, I have little to no use for my quiche pan. So, I thought it would be funny to frame a picture of her in it to remind her of the days when she actually ate eggs. Ha! I'm not quite sure if she appreciates my sense of humor quite as much as I do. Seriously though, when you find something lying about that you don't use any more, why not put it back into play? That's exactly what we decided to do. E is on her second week of winter break and we were looking for something fun to do. After identifying the body of the frame we gathered the rest of our materials from the box of leftover Christmas trinkets, treasures, and papers, and went straight to work. The finished project will hang on a wall in my bedroom so I can see that smiling cherubic face, of a once upon a time preschooler, every morning when I wake up. Ahhh... those were the days! What she doesn't know is that this is the first of many photos to be framed JUNKMARKET Style to adorn her 'Wall of Fame' when she graduates from high school next year. Not all of them will be this adorable... I'll also need to address that awkward stage. Poor E!
On Newsstands Today!
It's here! Now at a retailer near you... is a JUNKMARKET Magazine and DVD.
Winner of the Dog Collar Contest
Yes, it's Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner time. A great big Whoo, hoo and congrats go out to Janis aka Fellow Junker and her dog Doby for their spectacular vintage spoon collar contest submission. Way to go Janis and thanks for joining in the fun!
How to Make an Indoor Window Box
Here is a great alternative to a wreath in the window. The best part is that what you pop in can pop right back out. All the plant materials remain in their original pots and are hidden by moss. This makes for quick and easy pit stops allowing you to win the race against the seasons.
I'll Take Bottles for $300 Please Alex
Brought to you by JUNKMARKET Style... it's Junk Jeopardy!

What to Bring the Hostess
Don't leave the hostess feeling ho hum about yet another pine scented candle left on her entry table. Instead, give her a case of the woo hoo's by gifting something a little more out of the ordinary. A paper white in a jar...now that's worth celebrating.
Welcome Junkers
Hello junkers, we're glad you're here! Whether you are new to this site or are returning we're very excited to present our new and very much improved site. It's easy to get started so jump on and let the sharing begin!
Upcycled Cottage Industrial Candleholder
Come on everybody, let's do the upcycle. No, it's not a new fangled exercise program to achieve a flat belly in ten days or less, but rather it's taking items from your home and using them for something completely different than what they were meant to do. I just love using unexpected pieces to create things of beauty and purpose. This candle holder is crafted with leftovers from a building project at my home, some decorative craft paper fresh off the scrap pile, some ribbon, and a vintage watch face. Unlikely partners for sure, but that's the beauty of it all!
How to Wrap with Wallpaper
I was sooo excited when I found these wallpaper scraps that I could hardly contain myself. My daughter, who was with me at the time wanted to crawl into a very deep hole due to my overwhelming enthusiasm....teenagers! Sorry E, but you know your Mom! No matter how many times you roll your eyes this old dog will never change.
Winter White Window
Some windows don't need coverings for privacy, but do need something, shall we say just for interest.
Thanksgiving Centerpiece
You know me and my flowers. Well, Thanksgiving gives me the excuse to pull out all of the stops and go junk wild with a table topper that's befitting of the feast.
Home for the Holidays with Lanette
Lanette's home was one of the featured homes on the Round Barn Potting Company's Holiday Home Tour. Very cool....
Holiday Home Tour
Lori Miller, owner of the Round Barn Potting Company hosts an annual Holiday Home Tour. It was fabulous!
Tag Maker Tote
Don't sweat the small stuff! All the fixins' for a great package topper can be held hostage in a film slide case until you're ready to unleash your inner junk crafter.
Trinkets for Trimming!
Here are my top twelve junk picks for package perfection. Ready, set, wrap!
Tag... You're It!
Come along for the holiday ride! Here is a sneak peek at what I'll be using this year for my recycled gift tags. Looks like it could be fun. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see how they turn out. I might be just as surprised as you. Hmm....
Shimmer Me Timbers
This little light of mine shines brightly over a bathtub. No fear of electricity too close to water, just the soothing glimmer of candlelight to help wash your troubles away...if only for a moment.
It's a Spinner
After seeing UltraJunk's great haul of gear molds, I decided to post my room divider idea for those who have not seen it. And yes, it really spins.

Hot Spot Alert
Used restaurant supply stores are an excellent source for cool junk. At first blush, it may feel very industrial, but if you employ your junker's juju, the stuff you find will work with any decor.

A Saturday Surprise at Petunia's
It was for me at least. I didn't know about this, but many others did! Thank goodness because this was a very fun event. It was a glorious day on Saturday....maybe one of the last for awhile here in Minnesota. In honor of that, I took a break from the grind, went for a drive, and lo and behold came across a funky fall flea market in Excelsior, MN. Yay!

From Cast-offs to Creatures
Please meet Steve Meadows. This man and his love for the recycling of true garbage offers some very unique ideas for creating with junk. Metal coffee pots, paint brushes, bowties, bottle tops, silverware.....this artist will use anything he can get his hands on to fashion whimsical art for your home.
The Softer Side of Industrial
This amazing woman, Judy Hill, has some pretty amazing taste. Her junk love is metal, but it is combined with other materials and textures to take the hard edge off of the industrial junk. What's even more intriguing is her take on retail.
Junk is for the Birds
Not really, but when I started this project I wasn't so sure!
A Rusted Development
Oh yeah baby, we junkers love the rusty stuff! Here is an easy way to enjoy rust in an elegant way.
Make it Pink Challenge
Let's join our friends on Craftstylish in the fight for a cure. As some of you may know this is a very personal cause for me. My mom is a two time survivor and I lost my sister to her battle 6 years ago at the young age of 54. She was not only my sister, but my mentor and my best friend. I'm sure many of your lives have been touched in one way or another by this terrible disease so let's get creative and help to find a cure!

Name that Junk
This is a little game of guess your best. Before we post directions on how to make this we thought we'd give you a chance to identify its original purpose.

Summertime Stylin' Spreads
Summertime brings sunshine, warm weather, and an appetite for grabbing the gusto found in the great outdoors. Now that I have stated the obvious let’s talk about style. Like kittens, raindrops, and roses no two junkers are alike nor is their taste in junk fare. Some may be drawn to cozy cottage junk couture, many find comfort in classics with country charm, while others dance under the moonlight to the cool tunes of summertime sophistimication. Rest assured that no matter what your style is, cast-off creations can serve it up your way.

Re: What can I do with all these?
Wow, now that's a lot of spools. In my new book that comes out at the end of March I actually made one into a very feminine table with a lazy Susan attached to the top. I guess I am a little sentimental about spool tables as one was my first table in my very first apartment. Can't wait to see what you do with yours. From the looks of it you should be busy for quite some time. Ha!

This member feature created by Refinerii is indeed a beauty. What an amazing bird feeder crafted from scrounged materials from the workshop and from nature. Nice work Refinerii! Thanks for sharing.

Re: Indoor Window Box
Hi PJ,
posted: 10:37 am on December 26thThis is terrific! Aren't these contraptions cool? I'm so gad to see others have come across them too. It is too heavy for a suction cup hook (I tried) so I just screwed an eye hok into the casing of the window. Yes, it does leave a hole, but I intend to leave it there and change it up with the seasons. And then of course, there's always putty.
Take care,
