Skating to Christmas

I used my old hemming gauge as a stand for some old skates that I bought several years ago and painted on.  Voila!  Fireplace accent!

bait bucket Christmas tree

I found this old bait bucket...added some distressed letters to the outside and some twinkle lights to the inside to make a tree stand.

Pottery Barn Cubbies

My hubby got me the adorable cubbies from Pottery Barn for my birthday.  They fit perfectly on top of a pull down desk that I had, so I painted it out to match.  Then I decoupaged some...

50's gaming table

I picked up this gaming table in Vegas...I know...I'm the only one who goes to Vegas junking!  Anyway, it's a metal folding table, so I just removed the hinges and hung it on my wall for my new...

Hemmed up!

This is a old hemming gauge that I picked up on my last trip to Iowa.  I brought it home, added a vintage looking clipboard with a fun picture of my youngest.  Hanging photos doesn't get...

Sweet Clipboard!

This fast idea would have been adorable with a vintage clipboard but I wasn't patient enough to wait that long so I adopted mine from Walmart!

card catalog drawers

As a former librarian, I've had a couple of sets of card catalog drawers for years.  One set I used for holding craft supplies but the other one was mostly  filled with junk.  So with...

gate into table

I bought this gate in AZ on a recent girls trip.  Ironically, I had bought the legs at IKEA in the clearance bin  on the same trip.  They were white, so I painted them with shades of...

File It!

Sue's newsletter about finding junk in her own garage reminded me of this find from my last cleaning spree.  It started out as part brown, part rust and had been sitting empty long enough for...

Dreaming bench

Here's my bench that I made from a headboard and footboard that my brother-in-law picked up for me.  It was missing the finials and so I opted for some birdhouses.

Indoor Window Box

Here's my first attempt at an indoor window box.  Just need to figure out how to hang it in the window.  I'm afraid it's too heavy for a suction cup hook.

stocking holders

I've used these old mason jars to hold stockings for years.  I just filled them with sand and added some candle rings and raffia.  I used the jars that had the wire and glass tops so it was...

Just picked up my copy of Flea Market Style...LOve it! And would love for the junking events to move WEST....

I just used a fine point paint marker. My best friend...after duct tape and a glue gun!

I love your booth! It's great to see another etsy shop owner on here as well.

Re: Updated Office Organizers

Looks great! I love Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie for inspiration!

Re: Hall tree from parts

Very cool!

Re: Sweet Clipboard!

I used painters tape to bind the edges because that's what I had on hand but duct now comes in fun colors at where else?? Walmart!

Re: Top "10" for 2010...Ten Very Good Reasons to Buy Junk

I'm seeing galvanized metal everywhere I look! I just picked up an old "bait bucket" in Vegas. Just added some twinkle lights for a new Christmas look. Next year I'm going to add a themed Christmas tree for some lucky fisherman!
I'm not far from LA...when I can't find a good junk sale, I rescue great stuff from Walmart!

Re: card catalog drawers

Thanks for the ideas on the rods. I saved all of them but hadn't thought much about how to use them. The base is still in the garage...any ideas?

Re: Life is Like Laundry.....Loads of Fun!

That's perfect! I made sure my laundry room was one of my favorite places to be by painting the cupboards red and using clothespins for handles. You should have seen the realtor's face when we put the house on the market! :)

Re: Ladder-Planter

This is so cool! I use ladders for displays when I go to craft sales. They are hard to find but I managed to talk my brother-in-law out of one!

Re: The Back Porch

Very cool! I love old doors!

Re: From Church Chair to Bedside Table

I love this table! I've been on a chair hunt lately and found all kinds of neat chairs..just not what I need! Who knew finding 4 mismatched chairs could be so difficult!

Re: Old Dresser Re-mix (appliance garage)

How cool! I have a couple of chest of drawers that I wanted to steal the drawers from, but I didn't know what to do with the shells...now I do! THANKS!!!

Re: How to Make an Indoor Window Box

I love this idea and I have a metal piece that's very similar to yours, only not as old. I can't wait to try it! How did you hang it on your window? I'd love to put one on my kitchen window!
