posted: 6:32 pm on June 24thIn answer to some of the questions you had: As I frequent my local thrift stores I, too, frequent Michaels and the scrapbooking stores in my area looking for interesting rub-ons. You can also make your own rub-ons using a special paper usually found at scrapbooking stores. Vinyls are fun and easy to apply to almost any surface as well. You can make your own vinyl rub-ons (the possibilities are endless) using machines such as the "wishblade". I do usually clear-cut over top of the rub-ons, but not the vinyls.
Hope this helps....happy junking (and crafting)!

Hi Judi
posted: 12:29 pm on January 25thI guess you can say that I don't really take care of them at all. These particular doilies sat in a box for years...now I just hand wash them in some Woolite and hang to dry. If they are particularly messy after washing I'll just take the iron lightly to them. And I don't worry about the odd stain as I think it adds to the vintage appeal.....mind you I definitely take them off the table if we are having sphagetti!!!
Hope that helps.

Re: HELP PLEASE! Sideboard and Hutch is not me....Can you ladies help me with some sort of painting technique?
You know I have to say that I agree with italianpeasant....I had some beautiful old pieces of furniture from one of my grandmothers, but I just didn't like the wood stain so they stayed in the basement for years. When I finally took the plunge and painted them I was amazed at how the detail in the woodworking just "popped"!!! They are now my most prized possessions and I don't feel at all quilty about painting them. I, personally, would go with white as it really seems to bring out detailing, but I think you have to decide what would look best with your own style.
posted: 1:54 pm on January 23rdI also recommend using "bulls eye" primer....it is amazing and doesn't require messy sanding to prime the piece for paint.
What ever you decide please show us the after pictures.

Hi rebeljunker.
posted: 1:04 pm on January 16th"Whitewash"(to me)simply means thinning your paint with a little water (colour of your choice), putting a little on your brush (I wipe the brush on paper towel to remove some), then paint your surface. This way the original surface shows through. The alternative would be to paint as usual then sand to roughen up and show the underneath surface.
Hope this helps.....I seem to learn most things through trial and LOTS OF ERROR!!
