Re: A Little Wrench Fun

I LOVE it. How in the world do you think of these ideas. What's really neat is this project shouldn't take that long to make and no one else will have it.

Re: A Junkin Pumpkin

Damon
I'm so jealous--2 yards that you get to go to everyday. I get the same thrill going to the salvage yard that I do going to a great garage sale. I ALWAYS find something. It is amazing what people get rid of. One thing about it--you get VERY dirty. One day on the way home from scrounging I stopped by the store to pick up some sandwich stuff and the lady looked at me (I was pretty scruffy looking)and asked if I was paying with food stamps! It's a big family joke now. Has the lower price of metal affected how much you find now? I can't believe the difference in the price now and 6 months ago.
Christy

Re: Sewing Table Deconstructed

Christy

Re: Not-too-shabby "cashier" table

What a creative piece and just perfect for your use. This just had your name all over it. It's a joke among my family--one of us sisters always want to buy what isn't for sale so I'm sure everyone is going to want to buy it. Maybe you can find another piece that you can fix up and sell! Hope you make lots of $$$$$$$$ to put in that drawer.

Re: Over run with windows!

Hi- Welcome to the site. It is great to have a find and share ideas. We recycle more than junk--we recycle each other's ideas too!! Those are really great doors and you've got some good input already of ways to use them. Wonderful display. I used to teach typing (back when they used real typewriters instead of computer keyboards) so I really like all these ideas for old typewriters. Good thing you didn't dismantle it!
Christy

Re: Help!!! Ideas Needed

This is a really great scale. I would put in on my dining table and change the displays according to the seasons. I've got a sorta scale (don't really know what it is) and I put pumpkins, flowers, Christmas balls and greenery, croquet or pool balls or anything else. I am sure you are going to come up with a totally awesome use for this. It will become one of your treasured favorites.
Christy

Re: big ol box of brass watch gears..i guess gears like me.

Great find. Did you say you found these at the scrap yard--is that a metal scrap yard? Those are my favorite places of all time and I have spent many a Saturday morning scrounging through the junk. Unfortunately, our local yard has banned us because of liability reasons. I even offered to work part time just to get to see the junk. I can still go there to sell metal and if I'm crafty I can pick up a few things while selling. Just have to make sure my weight isn't more when I leave than when I come! BTW--I love these gears. What do you have in mind for them?
Christy

Re: My First Weekend of Junking!

OMG--How clever! And I just bought one of those boring plastic divider boxes just this last week to put my jewelry in. What a great idea!

Re: Door Window

I don't know about your garage but constantly looking into mine would give me nightmares! Good idea for a cover up.

Re: Waterski Sign

What a great idea! I'm working on a sign with my address made out of the letters and numbers of old car tags. They sure are hard to cut out though. Maybe I should look for some wooden letters like yours.

Re: Swap Meet Sunday

Love that red table. Wish we had one of those swap meets--sounds like a lot of fun. Can't wait to see what you do with this "junk." I've been seeing a lot done with lampshades.

Re: Pumpkin Vintage Mirror!

You are so talented. I love fall decorations.

Re: CHURCH MIRROR

Great mirror--I don't blame you for keeping.

Re: "Beach" Ball

I really like both of these--bet you don't have to worry about the wind blowing these away!

Re: The BEE-mixed media collage

Hey Georgia--this is really pretty. Did you decopage napkins on the canvas? Is it a collage of napkins. Obviously, I have no artistic ability at all but I really like this. Can't wait to see your next one.

Re: The Sisterhood of the Traveling Junk

Great ideas--I have a tendency to get in a rut sometimes and these pics get my creative juices flowing. Thanks for the ideas!

Re: Rusty Bird Bath

Hi Junkinhart. My welder is a Hobart Handler 140. I've been really happy with it but I really don't know a lot about the different brands. This was like the one my instructor had so I was used to it. She's had hers for several years and hasn't had any problems with it. It's easy to use. Let me know if you get one. We'll be waiting to see your welding projects.

BTW--I like your ID!

Re: Old Window Picture Frame

Great job--I love anything with old windows. I've got several in my attic waiting for just the right project and I think this might be it.

Re: Trash to Treasure Charity Auction success

I'm so glad the auction was a success. It's such a worthy cause. I love the pieces shown here--wish I could have been at the auction.

Re: Website Comment

My vote is for the "new" tags too. I'm nosy--I don't want to miss what someone might be saying somewhere! Thanks for working on this Tim!

Re: Heirloom Piano Repurposed!

OMG-I can't believe that you came up with these amazing ideas--wait a minute, I CAN believe it. You ALWAYS come up with creative ideas. Great job!

Re: Scales . . . Scales . . . and More Scales . . .

Love your uses for scales. I have several and now I've got some ideas on different ways to use them. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Rusty Bird Bath

Good for you Texaswoman. Waiting til weather cools down is a good idea. My next project is a bottle tree. That would be a good beginning project--I think it will be pretty easy (famous last words--I frequently get in over my head)! Found a lot of ideas for bottle trees on bottletree.com

Re: Plant stand

OMG-what a find. I love it!

Re: Junk Chick!

I LOVE IT!!! Of course, metal pieces of junk are right up my junk alley.

Re: Lookie what I bought

I'm with you, Georgia, no better therapy than than shopping--especially junk shopping.

Re: Rusty Bird Bath

I got my first exposure to welding by taking a 2 day class from a local metal sculptor (check out his stuff at http://funksculp.com). We didn't get to do much of our own welding during the 2 day class so I went to the local vo-tech (oops, showing my age here, it is now a technology center) to take a class but they wanted me to learn to weld gates, etc. so I called a lady that has done some welding and she gave me lessons. It's really easy. I don't use those stick things. I use one that just feeds the wire by itself. I compare it to a glue gun on steroids! Actually, I'm probably less dangerous with a welder than I am with a hammer.

Re: Junky Basket Lady

Thanks for the compliments everyone. The junky basket lady is welded together.

I know what you mean, Cynthia, wish I had taken FFA instead of FHA too. Don't do much sewing these days!

Re: Artist's Make-Up Case

I love it--I'll have to add it to the list of "junk" to look for!

Re: Rusty Bird Bath

Hotter than you know what! I'm still working on something to send for your friendship mirror. Hoping it will get below 90 soon so I can get in the shop and finish it.

Re: Painted Bed

What a sweet, sweet bed for a little girl! I love all of your stuff!

Re: MY HOME

WOW, what a great house. Just gotta ask--is that someone sitting on your porch?

Re: Hanging Trivet Candle

What a lovely swan! Nice to see a post from you--I was missing your great projects!

Re: Sue, I have a website question!

This is something I'm wondering about too. Is it possible to have the "new" tag like we did before? That made it so much easier to keep up with what we had read or not read. Also, could there be a "general" section where we can post when we have a question, story, etc., but don't have a picture? I'm enjoying the site--lots of activity!

Re: GOTTA LOVE THOSE FOUNTAINS

This is really cool. How big is the tub? It's got to be pretty heavy!

Re: LEARNING TO SEE THINGS IN NEW WAYS

I love what you've done with these pieces. Seeing the street sign gives me an idea. I'm trying to find something unique to collect and put above my kitchen cabinets but I don't want a lot of clutter. Several of these signs would be great! Thanks for the inspiration!

Re: Painted Furniture

I think they look great the way they are!

Re: Corbel and Piping Curtain Rods

What great corbels--and what a creative way to use them.

Re: Dental Sink Plant Stand & Toilet Paper Holder

Boy, everyone seems to have really scored at the Gold Rush Days. This is a fabulous find. Hope for your husband's sake that you find somewhere else to put the tp before you move this! LOL

Re: PIECES + PARTS= OOH LA LA TRES CHIC NIGHTSTAND

OHHH, I love the finish on this piece. Can't wait to see what else you come up with! The older I get the better friends I seem to be with the heating pad!

Re: I LOVE FOUNTAINS!!!!

What a clever idea! I love how it all came together. I'm like Alvn--I've wanted a fountain but didn't have a wall to hang it on. Darn--wish I had bought that old water fountain a few weeks ago. It was from an old hospital and I reluctantly passed it up.

Re: Linoleum Floor Cloth

I've always wanted to make one of these but have absolutely NO painting talent. I might could do it if I had a pattern to copy. Anyway, it's a keeper!

Re: Cookbook Shelf

Great idea--is the molding the only thing holding the cookbooks together?

Re: Old McCalls Pattern Cabinet Makeover

I love this cabinet--and only $15!!!! Way to go! Can't get used to everyone's new names and pics--was this from the world's longest garage sale?
