Re: THE MENOPAUSAL WOMAN---JUNK STYLE

Snowmanhill, I get my heads from King Metal Supply. You can check them out at www.kingmetal.com
I buy the hollow metal hemispheres. I just decide what size I need and of course you have to buy 2 and then weld them together. If you decide to buy you might want to get several at a time because the shipping is rather expensive for just ordering 1 set. I've also used other "found" items. I used one of those old kerosene flares that they used to put in the road to show road construction. I just turned it upside down and then put a hat on her. I've also used some stainless steel floats that my husband got in the oilfield. Just use your imagination and I'm sure you can come up with something. Good luck and post some pics after you get a project finished.

Christy

Re: THE MENOPAUSAL WOMAN---JUNK STYLE

Thanks for all the comments, everyone. I figured most of us could relate to this gal. My daughter wants to know what I'm going to do with her and I told her I might just have to keep her. She makes me smile and I had fun making her.

Snowmanhill--take your Dad up on his offer to teach you to weld. You'll get to spend quality time with your Dad and learn a new skill to boot.

Re: Tractor Steering Wheel Wreath

I think I've got one of these around here somewhere--I'll have to try to dig it up. BTW--where do you store all of this?
Christy

Re: A Little Wrench Fun

I LOVE it. How in the world do you think of these ideas. What's really neat is this project shouldn't take that long to make and no one else will have it.

Re: A Junkin Pumpkin

Damon
I'm so jealous--2 yards that you get to go to everyday. I get the same thrill going to the salvage yard that I do going to a great garage sale. I ALWAYS find something. It is amazing what people get rid of. One thing about it--you get VERY dirty. One day on the way home from scrounging I stopped by the store to pick up some sandwich stuff and the lady looked at me (I was pretty scruffy looking)and asked if I was paying with food stamps! It's a big family joke now. Has the lower price of metal affected how much you find now? I can't believe the difference in the price now and 6 months ago.
Christy

Re: Sewing Table Deconstructed

Girl, I'm impressed. Not only are you an expert constructor but also a good deconstructor! Love the drawers and can't wait to see what you do with second set.
Christy

Re: Architecture in the House!

Love the architectural elements added to your house. I hate the cookie cutter look and don't want my decorations to look like everyone else. Your elements add so much more character.

Re: Not-too-shabby "cashier" table

What a creative piece and just perfect for your use. This just had your name all over it. It's a joke among my family--one of us sisters always want to buy what isn't for sale so I'm sure everyone is going to want to buy it. Maybe you can find another piece that you can fix up and sell! Hope you make lots of $$$$$$$$ to put in that drawer.
Christy

Re: Over run with windows!

Hi- Welcome to the site. It is great to have a find and share ideas. We recycle more than junk--we recycle each other's ideas too!! Those are really great doors and you've got some good input already of ways to use them. Another site that has some good ideas for windows is http://www.robomargo.com Margo has tabs for different projects and she has a whole section for windows.

Christy

Re: Vintage Typewriter Gets a New Home

Wonderful display. I used to teach typing (back when they used real typewriters instead of computer keyboards) so I really like all these ideas for old typewriters. Good thing you didn't dismantle it!
Christy

Re: Help!!! Ideas Needed

This is a really great scale. I would put in on my dining table and change the displays according to the seasons. I've got a sorta scale (don't really know what it is) and I put pumpkins, flowers, Christmas balls and greenery, croquet or pool balls or anything else. I am sure you are going to come up with a totally awesome use for this. It will become one of your treasured favorites.
Christy

Re: big ol box of brass watch gears..i guess gears like me.

Great find. Did you say you found these at the scrap yard--is that a metal scrap yard? Those are my favorite places of all time and I have spent many a Saturday morning scrounging through the junk. Unfortunately, our local yard has banned us because of liability reasons. I even offered to work part time just to get to see the junk. I can still go there to sell metal and if I'm crafty I can pick up a few things while selling. Just have to make sure my weight isn't more when I leave than when I come! BTW--I love these gears. What do you have in mind for them?
Christy

Re: My First Weekend of Junking!

Sue, my sisters and I were at your show in OKC a couple years ago and my sister was the one that was given the glove during that particular show and she (with help from audience) had to come up with as many ideas as possible to use the glove. It's amazing how many ways a glove can be used!

That would be a fun project on this site--you give the picture of an object and everyone sees what they can make with it--posting pics of course!

Christy

Re: LEARNING TO SEE THINGS IN NEW WAYS

I love what you've done with these pieces. Seeing the street sign gives me an idea. I'm trying to find something unique to collect and put above my kitchen cabinets but I don't want a lot of clutter. Several of these signs would be great! Thanks for the inspiration!
