Old Chest. New Look

We were given this old chest by close family, but it didn't really fit with anything. Given it was a gift we were a little stumped on what to do with so thought upcycling it in true Junk Market...

Shaker Hooks

Okay, so this is not strictly made out of old junk, but I did have these old cuts of pine lying around I didn't know what do with. So I ordered a bag of shaker hooks and built a few supereasy...

Hairpin Table

I've been stuck with these leftover parque floorboards for ages. I finally bite the bullet and re-worked them into an updated table top. For the legs I used these steel harpin legs. To get them white...

Upcycled Victorian Chairs

We found these two old chairs in a charity store and decided to give them a new lease of life. The material is a coarse linen hemp and we used the Annie Sloan technique for the distressed wood finish.

Reclaimed Gym Floorboards

I found these floorboards from an old school gym in a reclaimed yard ages ago. Stuck with how to use them, I ended up using the floorboards to make this TV stand. To keep the whole piece vintage...

Reclaimed Table

Summer has finally turned up! Here's my attempt at making a large outdoor table from recalimed wood, just in time for the BBQ season. The table top is made from reclaimed red pine roofing timber. The...

Restored Chair

As you liked our last chair so much - the Victorian sofa, we thought we'd share our latest chair upcycling project with you. It was a little more tricky than the last one, but it turned out really...

Turning stairs into a TV stand

What do you do with some old stairs? Turn them into a TV stand of course! Inspired by some of the other Junk Market Style bloggers, here's my attempt at upcycling stair banisters and roofing timber...

Reclaimed Bike

After spending some time in San Francisco I was inspired by the courier bikes everywhere. I then attempted to reclaim an old beaten up bike found in a charity shop and make one my own. It turned out...

Vintage Mirror

Apparently this used to be a door, well that's what the junk sale guy told me. We set about converting into a vintage styled mirror which turned out brilliantly. Top tip was to use chalk paint with...

Restored Victorian Chair

We found this chair abandoned on the side of the road looking like it had seen better days. Follow our story on how we managed to give it a new lease of life.

Floorboard Jewellery Stand

Tasked with a challenge to turn a rotten old floorboard into something new and useful, I decided to make a jewellery stand. A really simple and cheap project if you stuck with an old piece of wood...

Circus Inspired Toy Chest

Inspired by a recent trip to the fairground, we upcycled an old wooden chest into vintage styled toy chest. Using handpainted lettering to bring it to life and little bit of magic to make it look...

Put your feet up

Stuck with an old beaten up table we had two options. Either drop it off at the local charity shop or create something new altogether. We opted to totally transform into footstool with a bit more...

Re: Reclaimed Gym Floorboards

Thanks for all the great feedback.

To get that finish I used a dark grey Annie Sloan chalk paint for the base. For the distressed look, I used clear finishing wax and mixed it with a small amount of grease. It's pretty grubby, so just a small amount worked. Then finish with the clear wax and polish with a cloth. It take a while, but the finish is great.
