In the fall of 2002, when my dad told me he needed to tear down our childhood barn I couldn’t stand the thought of all that beautiful, weathered, 120-year-old wood being wasted. So my good friend, Adonna, and I started creating and, VOILA, Old Barn Rescue Company was born.

We continue to produce unique home decor by reusing the old barn wood, doors, hardware, windows, buttons, faucets, nails, you name it! We have a love for giving new life to vintage materials through the process of rescue and recycling.

My husband generously cuts all the wood for us. We try to preserve as much of the color and shabbiness of the original paint whenever possible. Then with the many old, crazy items we have collected, we let our imaginations go to work.

In addition, Adonna brings over 20 years of experience as a freelance lettering artist and adds extra flair to many of our products with her beautiful hand lettering.

Glass Flower

Simple, sweet, and functional.  This little "flowery" glass base and an old glass door knob are a perfect combination.

Sing your song for windows restored

We had collected quite a few old windows over the past few years and were waiting for the right "something" to renew them and give them life.  When we began our wall graphics division this Fall...

Faucet with wings!

We just finished this custom order for a client. She was thrilled and we were quite happy with it as well.  We painted some of our barnwood and added the old hooks and buttons she...

Old door key holder

This one was so fun to create because we were able to keep the original door knob and latch  attached.  We turned the section of the door upside down, added old drapery rod...

Beep

Fun for a little boy's room...When we came across this vintage firetruck, we knew it would create a fun piece.  We still have some old wooden letters, so we decided to put them together...

Blossom

This one was inspired by the old tart tin that screamed "flower".  We added an old metal rod and rusty hinge for the stem and leaves, then put our finishing touches with old game tiles and...

Beloved

License plates are the key

We had fun creating this one!  The wood for this key holder is some from my childhood barn.  We added some letters from old license plates, screwed on 2 skeleton keys, and...

Shutter Mail Holder

We recently designed several mail holders from old shutters we had gathered.  We promoted them at our holiday show as a way to display Christmas cards, but they can serve their purpose...

Re: World Map Table

I'm in agreement -- I love it! Imperfections are part of the beauty. :)

Re: How to Spruce Up Your Porch

This is so great!!! I esp. love the use of the faucets! Incredibly creative!

Re: Curbside score, now what?

I agree, leave them as they are. They can definitely be used in a corner somewhere as a table/book stand. Chairs like these can "cozy up" a corner almost anywhere with a very simple statement. I also like the plant stand or towel stand ideas. Can't really go wrong.

Re: Hallway hat and coat rack

Once again, great creation! Such fun ideas and functionality to them!

Re: Threshing tray coffeetable

love your work! you have great creations!

Re: Harness ring "valance"

I will need to be on the lookout for these. Great idea and re-use!

Re: Glass Flower

it was actually a little glass base -- probably from an old light fixture of some kind -- so fortunately it came with a hole in it. Too great to pass up when we found it in a box of junk at the ReStore.

Re: Sing your song for windows restored

Yes, the pink chair is also a redo :) My neighbors were putting it in the trash and I snagged it -- It was suppose to go in our booth at the show, but the color went too perfectly with my cushions on my glider (also, a trash find) HMMMM, seems to be a pattern here. Thanks, everyone!

Re: Flower Power Garden Stakes

These are so clever -- quite a bit of work in all those as well. Love the beater tulips! Thanks for sharing!

Re: License plates are the key

We actually didn't have to cut the letters ourselves. We bought them at a flea market already cut. We have tried cutting them before and did not have success either, so that is why we grabbed these when we saw them. Maybe someone else has a tip.(?)

Re: Finally got our "things" together...or as I like to say, got our "junk" together!

Love the walls! You did a great job. Best of luck!

Re: Pocket Full of Posies

Very clever and sweet!

Re: Do you see what I see?????

Great pile!! Endless possibilities! I agree that the round metal things that look like movie reels could go on the wall just as is! -- or one would be cool as a large clock! Could they also be paired with the spindles and made into small stands or tables? Can't tell how large they are. (They could be great displays, adding height on a mantle, bookshelf, etc) Love the stars just as they are, too, or again one would make a great clock. Great metal baskets -- so many storage options! Look forward to seeing what you do.

Re: Golf Club Rack

Nice job on the distressing! Now if we could figure out how to make these reusing old clubs. Hmmmm...

Re: key holder

Always fun to see other key holders! They are some of our top sellers because they are so functional and a great way to highlight salvaged items.

Re: Marburger Farm Antique Show and JUNKMARKET Partner with Houston Habitat for Humanity!
