Im a junker from way back. I am particularly fond of smaller junk items. These are my favorite pass times gardening, tea parties, and light murder mysteries but junking is the best. I am now retired and loving it. Get to get out often searching for just the right junk. Even have grand daughter asking to go garage saleing on the days we have her. Can't get any better than that.

Re: 650 Mile Garage Sales Pictures

Sounds like you had a good time. If you can post pics of what you picked up. It's always exciting to see what others pick up. SO show us your stuff!!

JH and I are heading to the Michigan version of the 650 sale. We're geeked--making our game plan--what to look for--what route to take--and even down to what food/drinks are coming with us. I'm taking a four pack of wine (1 glass per bottle--not 4 large bottles)LOL. The best part is this sale goes along the "thumb" road way which is right on the water--lots of scenery.

LuAnn

Re: Old Timer Checkerboard Table

Nice job. Looks great. If you are looking for a place to put this maybe one of your local nursing homes could use it for their residents--just a thought.

Re: ...with a Junk Junk here & a Junk Junk there

Your garden is great (who said weeds don't look good too!). If you are a "junkie" so are the rest of us--and that's not a bad thing. We are just ahead of the time--you know--going green. I wish there was cool junk in my neck of the woods--you've made some great finds. Good job!

LuAnn

Re: Is anyone going to the 650 mile garage sale this week?

Well I can't make the 650 miles of sales (ohh la la) but will be done the Michigan Yard Sale Trail-200 miles along the beautiful scenic road around the "thumb" area. This is JH and my 3rd year. Each year we traveled around using different starting and stopping points. This year we will be starting in Caseville. We will arrive on Thursday (which happens to be in the middle of their "cheesebuger festival"!!). Heading out Friday and driving and shopping til we drop. This is loads of fun and the scenery is great!! Hope to find lots of stuff!!

LuAnn

Re: Our Day-after-Thanksgiving show!

What a great booth. I especially liked the "potty chair". Glad you had a good sale. Wish the "occasional" sales would wonder up north here to Michigan. Would be great to attend during these long winter months for those who need a "fix".

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Thanks to all. I am glad Mom is still with us (at 91 years old). She had a grand time (with leftovers to take home). Us girls get together when ever we can. Our best fun is Christmas Eve (family tradition from way back from who knows when). There's never a harsh word just tons of laughter and a spontaneous paperball fight after the gift exchange. I'm thankful for our families--which is getting bigger each year. And very thankful for each day Mom is still here and laughing with us.

LuAnn

PS An all Michigander junking adventure would be tons of fun!

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Re: A Mini Holiday Project

Georgia:

Never thought of painting these (even in the garden). These are great. Here's a shortcut for making the labels (the secretary in me)--there are self stick labels out there that can be used to type all your holiday words on at once, print and then place on the stakes. Saves from using glue--just a thought.

LuAnn

Re: Trash Barn - Searsport, ME

How could anyone not want this as their favorite place. Too cool for words. Don't have anything like that here (Michigan) that I know of--too bad.

LuAnn

Re: Another Conservatory

Re: Another Conservatory

I'm sure you'll come up with something great. There is no wrong way to make these. I think pickets for the top would look cool. It will let in the sun, rain (necessary if you put plants in) and air. Some of these conservatories can get real warm inside if there is no circulation! I'll post pics when she has it done (which she told me won't be till the spring). She too is quite talented with putting together a room, a garden, and justa about anything else. Talk soon.

Re: Glass Conservatory-By Request

Thanks everyone for the kind words. They are truly appreciated.

I can't really bring this in the house--no room on main level and won't fit up the stair case. I plan on putting my garden art and planters in there this winter BUT in the spring comes the big plans of putting plants on the top shelf and not sure about the bottom shelf yet. Still trying to think of ideas to decorate--(i.e. chandilier or other light source; door knob, outside decorations). Thanks for the idea of using a wheeled art to move this around--could come in handy when changing the look of my back deck.

Thanks again!!

LuAnn

Love these pieces. Lots of possibilities. Great haul.

Re: Can you say "Cute Candy Caddy" five times...fast??

I really like this idea. And you're right they care expensive if complete. There were several at an ES last weekend and I couldn't afford them. These would be real easy to change for the holidays! Keep up the good work.

LuAnn

Re: Glass Conservatory-By Request

No I don't mind being called LuLu--as a kid I was called "Little LuLu"--like the comic. May try the Christmas scene--good idea. You could make one of these for yourself.

I've been wanting one of these window planter house (or a conservatory as a friend calls it) for a long time. Just happened to find one at an estate sale this summer. Should have seen JH and I trying to get it home in my little car. Took 2 trips and a jeep but it made it in one piece. Plan on dressing it up soon.

Thanks

Re: Sunday Swap meet

Hay friend: These finds are just great. I guess things always change so if you want to change your stye it gives you more chances to go SHOP TIL YOU DROP.

Went to an ES yesterday where I found that "funky" tray thing. The first item up for bids was a typewriter (had to be one of the first ever made) and I was speechless as to the final cost-$4250.00!!!! At least the rest of the sale wasn't quite that high.

See you at 5:00!! A glass of wine will be waiting for you.

LuAnn

Re: Falloween Porch

5:00 is dinner time so what would like to go with those laughs?

Haven't named my scarecrow yet. How about Zeek to go with Zoe and Zelda?

Re: Mosaic table top

This is way to cool. I too would like to try mosiacs but was a little hesitant. Did you put the mosiac medium riggt on a wood table top? Heard you need to use some kind of green board? Can you fill us in!

Re: Happy Falloween to All

Sue:

I must say you have certainly out done yourself on this one. It is so inviting your guests may never want to leave. Your idea about doing the porch in sections is great; otherwise it can be overwhelming. We all know what happens when you're overwhelmed--nothing!! Can't wait to get started on my own. Going shopping in the basement, garage, shed and neighborhood fields. Will post when done. There will be a surprise--my "junk swap" gift--too cool for words.

No they're not big graters just regular size. Maybe it's the reflection in the mirror that makes it look bigger.

Re: Domino Coasters

I kept the paper on the tile, arranged the tiles on the paper side like you want them, trace the outline, with an exacto knife make cuts in the tile until it comes loose, remove the paper and place the domino's on the sticky side. (Repeat for more). Hope this helps.
