I have been going to flea markets since I was a little girl. My grandmother, Marie Diamontine Adele Gilbert Ward, (French Canadian from Quebec Provence) was the original crafter/junker! She was using found objects and throwing her own pots out of handmade clay way before anyone thought of it! She painted, stencilled, made her own soap, candles and sachets out of her homegrown herbs and garden. She could knit and crochet a complete baby sweater set in 1 hour. She made made gorgeous, original hand sewn quilts, afgans, hats, gloves, scarves, and handmade clothing. She could make and sew anything! And to top it all off she was a gourmet cook and a wizz in the kitchen. She had a permanent garage sale in her backyard for years and attended every single flea market she heard of! She was way way ahead of her time! This was during the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. She passed away in 1987. She was my hero and the matriach of our family. My life have evolved around all she taught me and I like to believe that I have inhertited most of her charming crafty talents, and cooking skills. I love fleamarketing and junk marketing and don't get to do it enough! My own daughter has inherited the "crafty" gene and we have been thinking about starting our own vendor table or booth at local flea markets. I am an orignal fan of the Junk Market out in Long Lake, and admire what these two talented women have done immensely! This will be a great website! Thanks for letting me share it with you!

Re: Live from Texas
Sue, I just love the new website! Texas looked great! I wish that there was a column of upcoming events in Minnesota posted on your new website. Afterall - you're from here! With the Holidays coming soon, there are many local weekend markets around the whole state, it would be nice if there was a spot to post them. And, as we get past this winter and get into next Spring, it would be nice to have a directory listing all the local flea markets and events. I loved looking at all the pictures of past ones and wished I had known about them beforehand and your website is the perfect place to find them! Thanks for listening! Let me know your thoughts about an events directory or some type of directory for markets.
