Joanne Anderson, ON, CA

I have been doing junk projects for years and
years and I enjoy nothing more then creating.
I also am an artist and starting painting
again in 2010 after about 5 years of not doing
any.I paint in acrylic on canvas, from real life
to abstract(which I love more)because it
lets me be more crazy/free and creative. I want to
be able to someday sell my paintings because
there is only so much room in my house. I also
am a gardener at heart and love working in the
dirt and creating beautiful peaceful spaces.

I work in Long Term Care as a Recreation Aide
and love my job as it also lets me be creative
and at the same time help the elderly. I love
antiques and animals and anything unique and different...

That about sums it up in a nut shell :)

Re: From Bath Tub to Pond ( to be continued)

We made a pond awhile back (20 years or so) with a waterbed liner and it worked good...

3 years ago we transformed our old falling apart
cistern into a pond...turned out really cool! We should
of used some type of liner because the cement was cracked and we tried to mend it back together but it slowly still leaked.

I experimented with a wide variety of perennials (I have a lot at my house, so I didn't mind if I lost a few)I just couldn't bring myself to pay the prices the stores were asking for pond plants. A lot of hardy perennials actually do very well half submersed in water. Look for any plant's that are for bog gardens and they should also do good. We even made our own filter for the pond..."yes" to save money and it is fun being able to do your own stuff and see it it turns out or not.

Can't wait to see the final masterpiece!!! Looking good!!

Re: Flowers for a Rainy Day

You have such a talent of making everything look so beautiful!

I like lady1880s idea of black and white photo's...the photo's should be pictures of the way things were 100 years ago. Or one big picture of looking into that house (3D) as if someone was standing in front of the door waiting for the lady of the house to welcome them in. Great find!

Re: Beautiful glass lids and bowls...

Hi...and thanks again for the comments. It's funny when I made
this piece I was pretty proud of it, so when family/friends came over I would show them and the responses that I received ranged from "What the heck is that?" to "Oh,how different" you
never really knew what people thought. Anyways, doesn't really matter as long as the person that created it was happy with it.

I wish I had more time and room to make more junk projects but we turned my junking-room/craft-room back into what it was originally...a spare bedroom. I made another one that went vertically but it's not as nice and doesn't serve a purpose like this one does. Happy junking guys and keep the ideas coming...:)

Re: "Shake AND Bake!!??!!"

Simply divine...I wish I was the guest attending
your party!!Have you ever tried club soda
instead of water?? The carbon in the soda keeps
the flowers lasting longer...

Re: My New Antique Shutter Headboard!!

Shutters aren't they can never have enough of them!! I like the natural patina of the wood...I am in the process of making a cabinet out of old shutters for our cabin to store stuff. Again great job!!

Re: Gotcha covered

What a great idea...I like how you painted the little squiggly cords coming from the ends.

Re: Antique oil can bee

That is just so I need to find an
oil can...hmmmm...

Re: rescuing throwaway furniture

What I wouldn't do for 2 beautiful pieces of
furniture like that! In all my life of antique
shopping I have never came across a barrister
bookcase...I want one also to store all of our
DVD movies. Lucky you...Good job!!
