I was sooo excited to meet Bridget and her family after corresponding via telephone and emails during preparation time for the "Texas Tour". I knew we would get along, but I was blown away when I met them in person. Everything about Bridget and her family was "over-the-top" in a very good way. Thanks so much guys!
Steve and Bridget designed, built, and decorated their home from the ground up employing many reclaimed and green products. Their home is so warm and inviting that it was very difficult to leave. I'm sure thay had some concens that Doug, Elizabeth, and I may just become permanent house guests! I love this beautiful dining room. Soft, elegant, inviting, and well edited. Bridget has a keen sense of putting things together without over doing.
Love, love, love this archway and curved wall. It adds old world charm to a new home. The wall of junk that lies beyond is too cool for school!
A perfectly designed nook for daughter Nina. Bridget and Steve started their daughter started down the yellow brick junking road from the get go! Let me tell you, this darling little girl has already developed a style that is all her own!
Ahh, the pink room. Nina was kind enough to give up her little slice of heaven to Doug while we were in town. Do you see why we wouldn't want to leave?!
The start of wonderful friendships! Miss Carol, Miss Sue, and Miss Bridget. While Doug stayed at the pad of B,S, and N... Elizabeth and I stayed down the road a piece with Auntie Carol. Miss Carol is amazing. E and I tend to come in like two bulls in a china shop, but we didn't seem to phase her. Although this was the first time we had met Carol, it seemed as though we had known her forever! Carol is taking metal working/welding classes so we all need to encourage her to show off some her works of art! Thanks so much Carol, big hugs are coming your way as we speak!
Oh my goodness, here's that project again that Doug and I have been working on! This promises to be the most well traveled project ever! We thought we should get Steve (Bridget's husband) and Bridget in on the fun. Apparently Steve thinks it's a parasol! One other funny thing I noticed about Steve, Bridget, and their two junking neighbors. They all have garages, but no cars are parked in them. Workshops and junk take the place of automobiles. Hmm, imagine that! I felt right at home!
Girl power! Our two little budding junkers became fast friends! Introducing the next generation of junkers, Miss Elizabeth and Miss Nina.
Here is another picture of the beautiful stylings of Miss Bridget. I love these little stools and the way Miss B re-purposed it. Simple and stunning!
A home for little dogs, a re-invented cigar box, and word magnets!
Don't let this vintage "5" fool you. Bridget's creativity is a "10" plus!
Bridget shares her talent with her neighbors. This awesome sign made by Miss B hangs on her junking neighbor's fence. The sign brought a big smile to this junker's face!

WOW is putting it very mildly. Wonderful Miss Bridget, her talented husband Steve, darling daughter Nina, and awesome sister-in-law Carol welcomed me and the troops with open arms and hearts into their homes. Seriously, words will never express how how very grateful I am for their warm hospitality, but I will give it a try. Bridget and her family truly embrace what I believe to be the magic of a junker's soul. They are kind, talented, creative, funny, open, giving, loving, free thinking, gracious, energetic, warm, curious, accepting, and appreciative of everything and everyone around them. Here's to my new found friends...thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Sue is the energizer bunny (sorry, Easter IS just around the corner)...how Doug, Kim and Lani kept up with her, I HAVE NO IDEA!
When Georgia tore off in her rented PT Cruiser -- who knew those things did 90 mph? -- I ended up in the far reaches of Brenham, threw my hands up and went home -- tired! And they were all just getting ready to head out for the cocktail party at the Red Barn!? Aye, yi yi.
Steve, Carol, Nina (Leo) and Me all feel the same way about Sue, Elizabeth (she ACTUALLY SPEAKS MANDARIN) and Blue Eyes (great Dodge truck that he's named Nina -- yes, he is that sweet)...great folks! Can't wait for October. My daughter has been making multiple books and pretending to sign them. We play "Sue" and "Elizabeth".
This is like a Blog entry of my own, isn't it?
Oh, and I was SO FLATTERED to have people come up to me and say: "we were just talking about you"...hated to admit that I wasn't Sue! Posted: 11:45 am on April 6th

Thanks for sharing! Kathy
