My self-imposed junking intervention (aka organizing my basement workspace...)

I have two worktables, I use one for collages, and the other for building/painting. I get vinyl tablecloths from the Goodwill and use them till they're worn out...
In the background - my "entertainment center" for viewing my favorite "chick flicks" while I work/play (Sleepless in Seattle, etc...)
The black trunk is stuffed with lots of fabric.
Lots of shelves and containers - for glues, string, wire, crystals, etc...
My old fashioned "wireless" computer (oops, "manual" typewriter) - not used for surfing the "net"!
A nice rusty shelf for old purses/baskets to store paints, stamps, etc. for collage work. The shelves below are tilted, so everything's in view...
Lots of pieces and parts - out in the open - and screaming to be used...

Well...I've been organizing my basement workshop - and wanted to get things out in "plain sight" so I'd know what I've got to work with - you know, if it's "out of sight...it's out of mind". Just hoping it doesn't look like the local thrift store blew up...
My "space" is about half of the basement (and I'm really trying to keep it contained...), so shelves have really helped (and I've started hanging things from the rafters too - ha ha!!).
I've also posted on my blog - more pics with more ideas for storage - or, if you're looking for "junk overload" : www.sylviasdaughter.blogspot.com

recycledromantic - good luck with organizing your space - and welcome to the club - a year into junking - you're gonna have sooo much fun!
gio - we should probably "pool our resources" and have a heck of a sale!! :) (anyway, just say the word, and I'll be over - looking forward to seeing you and all the great junk you've been "swuirreling away" this winter! Posted: 6:27 pm on March 18th
I can't wait to get started on it again. Other obligations have gotten in the way, but I always seem to eventually get back to it. You're doing a great job! Can't wait to see what kind of projects you'll be able to turn out with all of that creative inspiration. Keep up the good work! Posted: 3:35 pm on March 18th

thehillbillies - I'd like to drill into my concrete walls too...gotta run that one past my hubby! Mine is definitely organized chaos (perfect way to put it!).
alicemom/snowyowl - no basements...yikes! I'd have stuff piled in my upstairs (with a path open to the tv and fridge...haha) - or a huge shed in the backyard (that's an idea too!)
Candy - You definitely need to carve out a little junking/crafting place in your basement (before someone else finds a use for it!) - and be sure to allow room for "expansion"! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! (P.S. You'll have to come shopping in my basement!)
Janis - will share some pics soon!!
