My Junking Friend, Kathryn K. has since closed "Sophie's Nest" in Austin, I was delighted to find her back in business at an Antique Mall...sporting some of the little pretties that I crafted for her back when she had her shop on 6th Street and commissioned me to make her sign. You can barely see the little bird dotting the "i" in "Vintage," but she's there...

The old sheet metal comes right straight from a stack at the side of our workshop where my neighbor, Budge, has allowed it to rust, mellow and crust over the years. In awe when I asked if I could have it, these signs have since turned into some fun "statement" pieces!

The bird box serves as Kathryn's cash register -- yup, you guessed it, some GORGEOUS Cavallini & Co. paper decoupaged and then distressed covering a wooden art box.
