1)  I bought a pair of skates at an Occasional sale a week ago.  Wanted to make them mine, so this is the results.
2)  I bought Martha Stewart ribbon on the roll which mimics vintage tape binding and used these to lace up the skates.  I then added real fur from off a couple of items I was throwing away.
I should of take before photos, but Im trying to do projects while preparing a family vacation, and Im a bit scatter brained right now.
3)  I have the skates under our tree with some gifts and a Peace sign.
4)  I was asked to post a photo of the baby shoes I have in my Christmas tree for one of the members, so here it is.
5)  I have a pair of them.  They look just like mine from when I was little, but mine are packed away somewhere.  Love these little shoes.
6)  My momma bird and her baby bird ornaments I bought for my tree.
7)  My newest favorite vintage ornament!  I received this silver star ornamnet early for Christmas from Carolyn, Gardenjunky on this site, my very dear friend.  Absolutely love it!
8)  The skates with the tree.
Inspired by Lanettes childrens ice skates she had on display at her open house.  I had to add the bling.  Hers are more natural.  See below photo for Lanettes.
9)  My inspiration from Lanis house.  Love how she put these in a vintage fish tank.

Just love the look of childrens skates at the Holidays.  Wanted to keep mine indoors, as we will be traveling for a week and didn't want them damaged from the elements.  I decided to add some of my own taste to them, so out came the seam binding ribbon for laces and on went the fur/feather trim.

MimiToria writes: Sherry- the star ornament is vintage. I don't even know how old it is, but very old. My bff bought it at an Occasional sale and gave it to me as part of my Christmas gift from her.
I've never seen one before like it, so not sure where you'd ever come across one, but one can try.

MimiToria writes: Thanks guys. I like how subtle and vintagey these skates turned out.
Ann- the ornament is vintage that she bought from an Occassional Sale. I was there a few minutes after her, but she'd already bought this and brought it out to the car. I would of bought it myself had I seen it first. It is a perfect match for me. I just love the pearly look the silver has tarnished to and the star is gorgeous.
Melhow- a bright color like lime green or red would look great laced up with your black skates. I bought the ribbon on sale of 2.49 off the Martha Stewart line sold at Michaels, but any ribbon adds style.
If you want to see more ideas do a search for "Seasonal" and a number of skates will show up for more creative ideas to embelish your skates.

I have yet to get my hubbies skates out but with all the inspiration from you and Lani and the other member posts, I am going to have to soon. Enjoy your vacation! Posted: 9:23 pm on December 15th

This is all so pretty! I love the addition of the fur and I wasn't aware of the MS ribbon you used. That is fabulous! It's nice to see how Lani inspired your take on skates.

Your skates turned out so wonderful. The laces are great as well as your fur trim. I love them.
Beautiful wrap you are using this year and those tags are priceless. Quite the theme you have going on.
What a wonderful picture it takes. I am so impressed how it all turned out. It's only minus 4 today. Send some Florida warm on Thursday.
