Cest Fini! And I am in love! If it werent the only white thing in our kitchen I would have kept it!
The Before. From a distance it doesnt look too too bad right?
Up close and personal. It needed a wee bit of work. And by wee. I mean, almost a whole tube of wood fill.
A LOT of holes, visible screw heads and a warped backing. Blahhhhh.
A little image transfer with both the method and graphic courtesy of the Graphics Fairy!
Thought I would try something new and test this theory of making your own homemade recipe for Gesso. Um. No. BUT, at least I can say I learned something new that day!
Transfer complete, distressed perfectly for the look I was trying to get!
Varying layers of clear and dark wax to age it, and of course the new pulls I added! Lubs lubs lubs!!!!

This piece sort of directed itself in the way it wanted to go. It was going to simply be white. But then I had to change the upper molding, then the backing wasn't playing nicely, then the holes in the sides decided to throw a fit, and of course, the required addition of hardware for the drawer that I am thinking the original deisgner didn't want anyone to open? As it progressed I felt the need to steer it towards a shabby country kitchen look and I THINK I may have brought it to the exact level I was looking for! Big thanks to the Graphics Fairy for the images and transfer lessons!!!
