This is how it turned out, after a couple of hours of work.
This buffet was the dirtiest, greasiest, grungy thing I had ever seen.
The drawers had to be scraped and the handles soaked.
She looks brand new...well, almost.
The arsenal. I think I used everything I had on hand.

I went to an ES today and found this beat up old buffet but I loved the handles and I thought I could clean it up a little and it would be ok. I think it came out even better than OK. It had beautiful wood underneath all this black grease. It was in the garage, where I always go first because I have found that a lot of people use old dressers and stuff for storage, even if they have new stuff in the house, which I don't want anyway, but it may have been used by an auto mechanic as a workbench or something. Anyway...it was $20 so I got it. After a couple of hours work I have myself a beautiful piece for the shop that could be used for it's original purpose or as a stand for a flat screen TV. Gone are the days that everyone comes in looking for an Armoire for the TV, the times have changed, now they want something like this with storage and a big flat surface. Well here ya go. Oh, guess what else I found in that garage...one of those great big giant whisk things that Kimberly made a hanging light fixture out of. Yee Haw! I'm going back to her post to get the instructions and materials list. I am a happy girl. Love to all, Georgia

I miss estate sales...where I live they only have auctions, which equals sitting all day long only to bid on something that, low and behold, someone else wants just as bad and WINS! Gone are the days (for ME) of going into a house where everything is priced and ready to buy...in other words, UTOPIA! I have my grandma's old buffet and that's exactly what my TV is sitting on! My mom says it's the tackiest thing she's ever seen, but she's not a junker like me (and all of us!) GOOD JOB! Posted: 4:37 pm on December 12th

LOVE the arsenal shot. I gotta get you some Briwax too. I checked all over AG and it looks like it's an on-line thing now (if comes from the UK). I'm ordering some and will get you a can too.

Show us the whisk next!
