Originally the chair had leather strapping on the back. It was old and brittle so it was easily removed. I had the chair for over a year before it occured to me to use webbing for the back. The red toile fabric seemed like a good fit. The magazine holder needed something after I painted it. I took some of the fabric to fill the feur de lis design and reinforced it with thin pressboard. In order to tie it all together I took some twine and wrapped it around the handle. Voila'
