Meet my dog Lily, aka Willy, Cool Party, or CP. Judging by the collar, looks like we'll be calling her Willy the watch dog! Actually she will answer to just about anything if you have a treat in your hand. Please notice the ears. We call her the flying nun behind her back. She's a little sensitive!
A closer look at the collar before it went on Lily's neck for the holidays. Can you guess what else you might be able to use this as? Me thinks it would be adorable wrapped and buckled up on a package. Agree?
Here are the raw goodies. Ribbon, more retro wallpaper, some florist wire, a bit of bling in the vintage belt buckle, and an old watch face for my little watch dog.
Measure your pooch's neck and cut the ribbon, leaving it approximately 2 inches bigger than your dog's neck.
Measure and cut (with pinking shears) vintage wallpaper 1/2 inch narrower than ribbon. You can cut it the same length as the ribbon or shorter, which ever you prefer. I had to leave it about an inch shorter because of the size of the wall paper sample. You know what I always say...make it work with what you have!
Spray back of wallpaper with 3M Sprayment, center it on ribbon, and press to adhere. You could also use fabric glue, Stich Witchery, hand sew, or machine sew.
Slip fabric and wallpaper through belt buckle, fold to fit, and hand or machine stitch to hold buckle in place.
On opposite end of buckle measure and place 3 eylets evenly spaced.
Punch or cut small holes in collar for eyelets, push eylets through fabric, and secure with eylet tool and hammer
Using florists wire attach watch face to belt buckle.
Some models can be such divas! Seriously, you tell her she can't have her own dressing room and she won't look at you for weeks!

I know the title refers to junkyard dogs, but if you have a kitty, a ferret, a guinea pig, or any other pet in need of a collar, that works too. You know me and my words. I just had to use the phrase junkyard dog. Don't have a pet of your own? Feel free to borrow your neighbors!

Don't tell me Sue, that I am the only one that followed directions in this project posting? My poor Coco is showing up all alone in this post.
