Less Expensive Then a Real Fireplace
December 6th, 2008 in member junkI built, painted and distressed this Mantle as an alternative to a real fireplace, which would have cost $30,000. Adding up all the wood, paint, etc. this project cost about $45. I picked up the candle holder at a tag sale for $5.00 and mounted it to the mantle base. The red striped area is painted ½” plywood. The old plastic Santa was .50 cents at a garage sale and hasn’t melted yet.
It's located in my bedroom so you can see it while sitting in bed...very relaxing.
