I wanted to use these linen hand-me-down "pants" even though they looked horrible on me, so I put them on my chair!

  • 3/4 yard of fabric & a staple gun made recovering the seat a snap
  • I cut the pants off at the knees and used a stitch-ripper to open the seams
  • The open pants fit the perimeter of the seat perfectly, so I just stapled them to the frame
  • The chair still looked plain, so I added a pleated "stripe" to the seat by using Heat-n-Bond
  • Voila! My thrift store chair got some girly flair in under an hour and cost less than $10 with all the supplies!

EdwardThirlwall writes: I love it when furnishings receive a personal glamour touch. It does not necessarily need to be something extravagant but just a small piece of fabric and some buttons would definitely do the trick. The key is to keep things minimal but visible and you will have your own personal unique furniture. Posted: 2:14 am on July 4th

PlentyPlace writes: It actually pained me to cut the pants apart, but ladies...I looked like a sad sack of potatoes in those darlings! They are much more becoming on the chair. ;-) Posted: 4:55 am on January 24th
CottageElements writes: Fabulous chair transformation. Fairly simple, too! Too bad the pants didn't work out for you, though. From what I can see of them, they looked pretty cute. Love the mannequin in the background, too!
