Paint a chalkboard on textured wall, framed with pallet wood

I measured the area I wanted to be a chalkboard, then covered with all-purpose joint compound, and smoothed it out with a sanding block. Chalkboard family command center. Framed with pallet wood and a shelf. Added some homemade wire baskets for storage.
