Fireplace Screen

I must say I knew immediately what the front of this old tractor grill was going to be repurposed into!
After a good cleaning (yep, had to remove the bird poop and all!), I gave it two coats inside and out of polyurethane.
On the underside, I was thrilled to see the thick mesh screen formed a shelf on the inside across the bottom...I knew what would look perfect on that shelf...
You guessed it - candles, of course!
Now ideally this would be used in front of a faux fireplace opening.  Ive set this one in front of my working fireplace just to give you an idea how it would look in this setting. (Plus the lighting in my family room is better for picture taking!)
The great rust color really stands out after a couple coats of poly.
In order to get the piece to sit (the bottom was slightly curved) I used a rubber mallet to flaten the bottom a bit.

This great piece could also be hung on a wall as fun decor in a boys' room, den or study.
