Old Window + Bed Posts + Wood = Plant Stand
September 27th, 2015 in member junk
I frequently buy things and parts when I go hunting for treasures without having any idea of what I might use it for. I found two heavy metal ivory footboard end post at a garage sale a couple of years ago and came up with this fun idea of making a window plant stand! I had the wood and the window in my stash and just had to buy pipe strapping (which was an inexpensive purchase) to attach it all together. The metal end posts already had threaded holes in the bottom as this is where you would have attached it to the bed frame. This is where I started by attaching a piece of wood to secure the two post together and also to secure the bottom of the window. I then used pipe strapping across the back and at the top to secure the window to the rails. I wanted a piece of metal scrollwork to finish off the top of the window but I did not have that in my stash. Went to Big Lots and found a little garden border fence that was curved at the top and had a little scroll metal insert. Cut of what I didn't need, painted it to match and added the finishing touch!
