My gift to my niece.......her memory lamp
The rotor off her car........memory of her and her girlfriend changing the rotors (her 1st mechanical experience!)
Picture cubes.......blocks that turn on the lamp spindle......will have pictures of her and her friends that are special to her

The adults in our family draw names for Christmas.  I drew my niece who is in her 3rd year of college and just moved into her 1st apartment.  I went diving into the junk pile......came up with the rotor from her car that she & a girlfriend changed themselves this summer (her 1st mechanical project!!).  I started from there and added the cube blocks that turn on the spindle (I will add pictures to each side of these, but my beautiful new laser printer chose Christmas to start adding red streaks to pictures (even black & whites)!!!  I spray painted the base and the shade with hammered black paint and the cubes with an automotive black.  It goes perfect with her colors and style of the apartment!
