Game Piece Serving Tray

birds eye view.  It took me hours, no days!, to figure out the right arrangement since I was spelling out cross-style type words.

I had this black tray left over from a gift of coffees and teas I had received.  I was going to paint it and make it shabby chic for my room.  But, I ended up making a serving tray for my son-in-law.  He loves to have company over and always serves wine and cheese.  At first I wanted to fill it with dominoes but I couldn't find any except brand new ones and they were too expensive for this Junker.  At a thrift store I found these other tiles.  I liked them better because they added some color. After placing them I had gaps to fill, so I used medium size tiles also found at a thrift store and with these I could spell out words that were meaningful to my daughter and her man.  After adding the medium ones I still had some gaps to fill!  I had to buy (!) the tiniest tiles at a fabric/craft shop to finally fill all the spaces.  I had glass cut to fit over all (less than $2.00) and I was finished.  The serving tray was a big hit.
