Keep it natural, keep it real. Decorating your tree with beautiful
things that only mother nature has to offer, combined with just a
handful of ornaments, produces a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree.
Yo, its Lilly the other reindeer. Keeping it simple are words to
live by. Gracious greens in army issued mess kits adorn the steps.
Lilly continues to wait patiently for her talent fee...a delicious
doggy bone.
Oh, man! Sue and her stencils. I swear Im going to hide them from
her pretty soon. Only kidding! Take aways from a holiday table are
always a party favorite. Make sure the gift inside is handmade. In my
case, preferably edible.
An article featuring JUNKMARKET Style is never complete without a
few words of general junking wisdom. You know Sue...shy and short on
words.

Ready, set, wrap! With this old floor grate, everything will be at
hand. Keep in mind, an office is a a room ripe for holiday re-purpose.
In case you cant find it....heres the cover.

What a great way to kick off the holiday season. Take a tour (while sofa surfing) of Sue's nature inspired, family friendly, and comfy-cozy Christmas home. You'll find junktastic ideas for your living room, dining room, master bedroom, gathering room, and the oh so important wrapping room. This feature was originally shot for the 2006 Country Home holiday issue. This speaks volumes for junk. What was current then is current now. Incorporating finds from narture and stuff from the junk pile into your holiday decor will produce a look and feel that is truly timeless. This article inside the winter issue of Creative Home, on newstands now through January 13, is chock full of ideas for bringing the spirit of the season to your home this holiday season, Junkmarket style!

This is just the beginning. Both Sue and I very much look forward to sharing this most joyous of seasons with you, our junking friends. We will be like little elves back in the workshop pounding nails, painting, crafting, wrapping, sawing, and of course laughing, in an effort to bring you the very best in holiday junk! Please join us in all of the junking merriment. Let the holiday festivities begin.....

Canela writes: Hi Sue,

Would you please share your source for the hall runners in your home that were featured in the recent issue of BHG?

CottageElements writes: I'm wondering if they can be recreated with old exit signs by replacing the glass? You'd still have to be able to wire them and have access to the ceiling. Otherwise I've thought about making ones that are just with wood and stenciled (I have a friend that is fabulous at duplicating these type of things). They still wouldn't be as good as the originals. If I ever do it, I'll be sure to post it!

JunkSchendenStyle writes: Those lights are one of a kind.. I've talked to several Architectural Salvages places and no ones ever had any. Sue, after talking to you on the phone that one day after this issue first hit the stands, I called the placed you suggested in LA and no one ever returned my call... :-( I'll keep looking Linda Posted: 5:54 pm on November 9th
Junk_Sophisticate writes: Hi Sue,

Got mine! I don't know why I was making it harder to find than it was. It was right at my grocery store like you said.

Your home is "Junk Beautiful"! Thank you for inviting us in to look around.

suewhitney writes: Hi Candy,

You should be able to get a copy at most grocery stores, and if not you can pick one up at major book stores. Hope that helps.

Take care,

Junk_Sophisticate writes: As others have expressed delight regarding the lights in the hallway, that particular photo has been ingrained in my head ever since the first time I saw it. I guess it has been in my head the last two years then. Talk about a memorable wow-factor in a home!

Can anyone direct me to the best place to find a copy of Creative Home? I checked Target and Joann Fabrics so far.

Beautiful stuff!

MimiToria writes: I picked this magazine up about 3 weeks ago, quite by accident at Borders Book Store. Started leafing through it, saw that Sue was featured in it and then it was a done deal that I had to buy it. Told Lani about it, and she made sure she found it too. What a great article and always fun to see what is featured when Sue is a part of it.
Great job! Looking forward to fun stuff for the holidays!

CottageElements writes: Kimberly, I already have my copy! I kept thinking to post something, so glad you did! I was able to go through Sue's home on her house tour and I don't think the magazine even does it justice! I love so many things in it. If I could pick a favorite, I think it would be the lights in her hallway. And if I could duplicate them, I would! Can't wait to see what all the little elves are up to for Christmas. I'm sure some fabulous things!
