Late Bloomers...

These old shoe stretchers get a new job and a new look...blooming with vintage bobbles.
I suppose I could have painted these all one color but I preferred the different colors and their less than perfect appearance.
Rusty washers, vintage earrings and buttons...
...old enamel pins, a favorite of mine...all attached with Gorilla Super Glue...
Here they are, just laying there looking pretty...
...next to this old glass piece...is it an aquarium or a light fixture?  Not sure, but it works great for display...
Also looking lovely on this perfectly crusty grate...
I made enough for a whole junky bouquet...it was a little challenging getting them arranged since they are fairly top heavy...
...but strategically placed sheet music did the trick.
These old shoe stretchers get a new job and a new look...blooming with vintage bobbles.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds these old shoe stretchers all over the place for cheap.  Whenever I see "cheap", I can hardly resist scooping them all up and waiting for an idea to hit me...so after years of stinky shoe stretching and then a few more years of hanging out in a pile in my garage, they get a new life and a new look...

shabbychick writes: Laurel - I love your vintage blooms! Such a clever use for old shoe stretchers - and leaving them with the original paint/finish was the right decision!

It makes me think of spring...in a whole new way! :)

We've got a bunch of them too - in pastel colors - and they definitely need to be put to use - thanks for the inspiration!

Take care,
