Free junk day!!
Pretty cool, huh???
What to do with a bunch of old yardsticks???  A project or a new collection??  There are a couple square ones, one that folds (to measure between corn rows...too funny), and an extra long one to measure golf clubs (who knew??).
Old teal metal baskets - from a freezer???
Another view - dont ya love it!??!

Free junk day!!

Free junk - this stuff is too cool - yardsticks, metal baskets, an old chalk board, and just a bunch of "junk" (I mean "stuff") - but I think there are some treasures in here...

A friend is moving into a house (a couple blocks away) and the previous owner (who was a collector of a whole lotta stuff...) left a bunch of it behind (I guess, knowing I'd be there to rescue it...), and she let me go through it - so, these are all the goodies I've found so far (and there's more hidden treasure in the basement...old tools, etc...).

I had actually picked up two of the metal baskets out of their trash a couple weeks ago while I was out on my morning walk - found the other one in the basement on Friday...

So, now that it's all been added to my "wall of junk" (will have to show you pics of that too...), I've got a couple projects rattling around in my head.  (It's getting kind of crowded up there - if you know what I mean??!!!!)

MimiToria writes: shabbychick - Glad the "idea journal" was new to you, and can help elevate the brain overload. I did this too with my jewelry business, as my brain was always coming up with new thoughts, designs, colors, etc. If I don't get it out of the brain and onto paper, I either forget parts of the great inspiration, other important things, or lose sleep over it. No problems with anymore though.
However, it took me 12 years to think of doing a journal. Go figure! That represents a lot of lost sleep time. Posted: 1:39 pm on September 30th

shabbychick writes: Gretchen, An "idea" journal is a great "idea"! I do need to organize some of those thoughts...because some eventually slip through the cracks (LOL). And, I definitely don't need to interrupt my sleep anymore than I already do... I really do need to start a journal - thanks!

The baskets may become something very boring - like fabric storage bins for now... I just love that vintagey teal color.

MimiToria writes: Lucky you! Great free stuff. I have some of those teal freezer baskets in my basement. Let us know what you come up with creative for using them, as I still haven't used mine. Anxious to see your projects you come up with.
By the way, get those ideas out of your head and onto paper, as too much going on up there can cause insomnia. Just ask me, I used to be the queen of insomnia, but now keep an idea journal. Has it ever helped! Posted: 1:31 pm on September 29th
