A new definition for "book lamp."  This one is made out of books to be an occasional lamp--ideally on a bookcase.  Pretty simple: get some old books by an author you like or on a topic you like (remembering that you will ruin the books!); drill a hole a bit larger than a lamp rod in the center of the books and in the center of a wood base cut a bit larger than the bottom book.  Then use some old lamp parts to build up from the book to the socket (I collect old lamp parts for projects just like this).
