Our Lady of Guadalupe Virgin Mary Shrine
October 21st, 2009 in member junkI have a thing for Virgin Mary shrines, I'm not really sure why as I had a very non-religious upbringing. The beauty of Virgin Mary related art just touches me somehow so I have a tendency to construct my own from a large cache of Marys I have floating around the house. I mean no disrespect to anyone's beliefs in making these, I do so with the utmost respect, I am just drawn to the strong feminine energy and imagery of these shrines.
The full body halo effect is achieved by nestling the Virgin Mary figurine in a copper-tone baking mold. The halo that encircles her head is made from a vintage, aluminum, doll plate. Rhinestones and blue silk roses as well as a Virgin Mary medal have been added to further enhance this shrine to the Virgin Mary.
