Vintage assemblage by gailmarie
Items used - vintage: wood from foot stool and toys, aluminum Atwood's coffee lid, painted hinges, wooden ruler, bottle caps, metal pcs; roofing nails, metal pcs, dyed raffia, staples, screws, washers, nuts and bolts

Originally, I was going to name this piece Ms. Atwood, because of the coffee lid attached, but after listening to Manhatten Transfer and their Java Jive song (I thought they were singing "java java"), I had to name him King Java Java (cuz he looks like a god/goddess from many moons ago). To this day, I can not say the name out loud without laughing!!!! The name just cracks me up!!!

Close up of the upper part of the body. I love all the various wood and metal pcs together. Each pc compliments each other, from the wording on the old ruler and toy pc, to the rusted, chipped look on the old hinge.

I just love this lid!!! I think I got it at an area thrift shop for next to nothing. Wonder what ever happened to the tin/can that went with it....

Unfortunately, I was unable to capture the whole pc, showing the raffia hanging in full. Hoping you can get the idea of what the whole piece looks like. Maybe someday if/when I have time, I will reshoot some pictures....
