Burlap sacks can be found in abundance with price determined by their printed graphics, quality and age.  Thus far, I have been able to find my stash for as low as $.75, with my most expensive one at $3.50.  Love the cheap factor!
Remember the wood things I hauled back from my parents house this summer?  If not, check out my previous post on JMS that shares my goodies.
I decided to use one of of those things for this project, but still have five remaining.  What to do, what to do?
Supplies needed:
Burlap sack
Wood thing (or old frame, moulding)
Industrial stapler
Remove seam from sack.  Cut to fit.  Staple to wood frame.  Complete!  Lets put this project to rest!
I wanted to keep this somewhat rustic-looking, so I chose to leave the staples showing along the sides.  For a more finished look, staple sack to the back of frame or wood piece.
The simple black graphics are perfect here, however, you can find sacks with multi-colors that look beautiful as well.
Thank you Mr. Grisez, for providing me with $2 art for my home.
Yes.  I said $2.

Although not a new idea, burlap sacks hold their own when it comes to repurposing.

Jergie writes: I love the sacks, but I have never ever seen one in all my travels to the thrift stores, yards sales etc. The ones I've seen for sale on the internet seem quite expensive. Maybe they are just not common in my area of the country. Posted: 7:55 pm on October 26th

coloradojunkie writes: Hi everyone this is a very cool idea and I love it. I have an 100 yr old ranch in Big Piney Wyoming and I found fifty or more of the cutest sacks stuffed away. If anyone is interested in buying some for five dollars plus shipping I would be glad to get rid of them, they are very unique and very old, still very colorful with a wild Wyoming past. Let me know at shawneenov@aol.com my name is Lori... Posted: 8:17 pm on October 8th

Bears4Clair writes: Really awesome idea - I love it, Candy! If someone wasn't so lucky to have found the "wood things" from your parent's house, you could also stretch these on stretcher bars that artists use to stretch canvas. Michael's and Hobby Lobby usually have these. Occasionally both places have their fully finished canvases 40-50% off, which would make that an even cheaper option. Also pretty lightweight.

I would LOVE to make some pillows out of these for my couch. Espcecially some with lots of red. Posted: 2:52 pm on October 5th

Candy, I think this is the most creative use yet for old sacks. I saw a similar idea at a pizzeria in Italy. They covered one entire wall with vintage flour sacks.

MimiToria writes: Hey Candy- I do believe I was shopping with you in Minnesota when you rounded up about 5 of these flour sacks. I thought they were pretty cool, quite cheap, and wondered at the time what you had in mind for them. Pretty cool outcome, I'd say. Kicking myself for not looking for some myself. lol
Way fun!
