Oronoco Gold Rush Days are here at last. This is an event I look forward to all year long and this time around it's going to be even better with the addition of the Junkologie Blog Party. So come on and join us if you can. On Friday, August 14th I, along with JMS contributors Kimberly, Lanette, Gretchen, Candy, and Kathy will be shopping 'til we drop while Miss Amy is selling 'til she drops. When we do finally drop it will be at the nearby KOA. Yep, you heard me right, I am forcing the girls to spend an evening camping by an open fire. This should be worth the price of admission!

On Saturday we'll be having a big girl's breakfast at the fire station followed by more junking and possibly one or two of the world famous ice cream sandwiches found only at Oronoco. At 3 PM you will be able to find all of us at Amy's booth, Junkologie located at the corner of Minnesota Avenue and Center Street West. Let the blog party begin...should be tons of fun! Please stop by and join us for conversation only a junker can understand, food (bring a dish to share...it's a junker's potluck!) and a book signing. JMS member, Cherwood will also be there doing a Tomboy Tools demonstration. Tool time...Yes!!

Thanks to Sue, I am fortunate to have become friends with many wonderful people over this past year as a contributor and will be finally meeting some of them for the first time on this foray. I can't wait!
See you all at the blogger party.

Have fun, can't wait to see pictures and hear a funny story or two! Happy Junking, Laurel Posted: 2:09 pm on August 10th
Fjerda writes: I really have not been good at looking at all these posts... Are you really staying at the KOA when the Oronoco County Park is right there. The Pfarkel's have camped/RV there for almost 20 years now. We only have to walk a couple of blocks and we are at Downtown Gold Rush and all the bargain and fun. There is usually room there if you get there early and last year we moved up to a better spot than past years!!! Steve at the checkin headquarters know who we are especially, with the Big Red Bus. No driving needed in the morning or at night (well except to go back and pick up purchases that we could not carry back earlier. Check it out Posted: 11:32 pm on August 7th

CottageElements writes: Ooooh, I can't wait!!! I get to meet you crazy girlz in person! It'll be worth the trek (14 hours doesn't seem that bad--LOL). Not too sure about the camping, though. Would rather be Glamping! As to CourtJunker's question, alas Sue will not be having her own booth this year. Maybe we can figure out a way to connect. Stop by Amy's booth and let her know your schedule and she can get in touch with us! It's gonna be a ball!!

courtjunker writes: Hi Everyone,
So far I think I win for traveling the farthest from Arizona. I'm bring my two friends who have never experienced Oronoco. I have been telling them for years about all the great junk and more importantly the famous ice cream sandwiches. We can't wait to share in all the fun.
I wanted to know Sue if you are going to have a booth like you did last year so we can stop in a say Hi. I saw that there is a blogger-party on Sat but we have family plans so sadly we won't be able to make it. We tried to meet you once in Arizona at the Home Show but as you might have remembered there was a mix up on the schedule and we missed seeing you.
Looking forward to running into you again as we do what we are love to do shop and eat. Happy Hunting Camille Posted: 6:10 pm on July 27th
shabbychick writes: A prize??? Well...Candy and I will be cooking something up for sure! :)

suewhitney writes: A prize, Amy? Why, certainly!! Now what could that be?! Hows about one of the Pyrex serving dishes I created for the site. Of course I'll be bringing my dish to pass on it so we'll have to wash it first before we give it away. Ha! Only kidding...I'll bring a fresh one for the prize. The countdown begins! I'm sure looking forward to meeting JMS members and all the bloggers out there face to face!

Take care,
Sue

ALVN writes: It's going to be quite the shindig! Guess what else! In addition to the ice cream sandwiches, there's also the first-ever Junk Potluck! What is that? A little scheme that we "cooked" up...actually all the credit goes to Sue...the junk genious! Everyone who is attending the blog party is asked to bring a dish to pass. The spin? It has to be served in or on some type of junk. You know, Sue, I'm thinking a prize for the most creative junk dish is appropriate. Don't you agree?

Amy Posted: 10:53 pm on July 24th
Junk_Sophisticate writes: Nope, Midge. I wish I WAS being generous. Unfortunately 14 hours is about right! We ran the map with as much of a straight shot as we could and it's just over 13 hours. We're allowing that extra hour for fuel and necessary breaks only.

I'm sure we'll get a couple shots of "drive-by" junk though!

Candy Posted: 9:31 pm on July 24th
junkermidge writes: Kathy & Candy -- 14 hours sounds a bit generous to me, but maybe you're planning a bunch of junk stops along the way! Are you guys really staying at a campground? What a riot! You're going to have a blast.
So nice of Amy to play host. I'm sure everyone going will have a fabulous time.

shabbychick writes: Candy...14 hours? I was thinking it was just a "hop, skip and a jump"... Ha ha - it'll be well worth the drive for those famous ice cream sandwiches, right? Oh yeah...and lots of great junk...AND best of all - meeting our friends from here and "blog land"!

I know Sue has fun planned for us (there's an itinerary :) - but no where on there does it actually say "sleep" - for sure not in a campground, right Lani?? :)

We're definitely counting down...

Janis & Geo - wishing you were going to be there!

Junk_Sophisticate writes: I am SO excited about this and hope we'll get to rub elbows with many JUNKMARKET Style members! Just so you know folks, Kathy and I are DRIVING almost 14 hours from Ohio to attend! Maybe that 2-3 hour drive doesn't seem so bad for you after all. ;)

Georgia's comments about the best ice cream sandwiches concerns me. I mean really. I know how many GENERIC ice cream sandwiches I can plow through in a sitting...what in the world am I going to do with these FAMOUS ones in front of my face????

Can't wait to see!

georgiamoon writes: Wow was it LAST year that I was there? or was it the year before? I can't remember when it was but I remember it was the coolest outdoor show I had ever been to. I loved everything! the shopping, the food, the people...everything, except unloading the giant truck (with the heaviest stuff on EARTH) in the rain...I remember that REAL well! I suggest that anyone that has the chance to go to this event should do everything possible to get there. I wish that I was going to be there, even though I know I would just buy things that I could never get home, eat too much pie, and probably have 17 ice cream sandwiches (the BEST)! You will all have the BEST time EVER, Georgia Posted: 2:30 pm on July 24th
