Once you've found a shoebox, cover the entire box with scrap tissue or any gift wrap, napkins, even fabric will work. Use lots of modge podge so that it sticks smoothly to the box.
Once the box is completely dry, fill the box with ribbon to see how many will fit. Make a slit in the sides of the box for each roll of ribbon that you have.
pull the ends of the ribbon through the slits.
close the lid and you're done! Ribbon stays perfectly neat, and you can make several if you have tons of ribbon, because they stack on top of each other, taking up little space.
Here are my two stacked on a shelf, ready for me to easily see all the ribbon that I have.

I got so tired of my ribbon becoming a huge tangled mess, so I went out pricing those plastic storage containers. Too expensive, and they didn't hold enough. SO...with a shoe box, some old tissue paper, modge podge and a pair of scissors, I now have ribbon storage for infinite spools of ribbon!

You are the best! Love the box & idea! I put mine on dowel rods & stick them on the top shelf of my decorative bakers rack. Yous is far more useable & portable.
