Antique Barrister saved from the Trash

The sad before picture. There were 4 layers of paint, yellow, blue, green and tan. A week of work transformed this ugly duckling into a beauty.

This antique barrister bookcase was going to be put in the trash by the previous owners.  The glass doors were missing, so we found a guy on Ebay that reproduces any part of these bookcases.  While he was making the frames for the doors, I was stripping off four layers of paint. Luckily, I was able to save the original stickers inside the back of each cabinet. Now it's a beautiful piece that looks great in our study.

dhmjr writes: Looks great! I have a piece like that I found and it was probably like yours, a pile of parts. I'm missing two ends. I wonder if that guy you found on Ebay makes those as well. The wood part looks easy enough, but I don't know about the hardware. Posted: 12:04 pm on July 21st
