ceiling medallion

While laying on the couch looking at the ceiling one day, I decided there ought to be something I could do to liven the blankness of it.  Photo 2 shows the center which was a plain circle I purchased.  I added a large star and several small ones as well as a center medallion and 'bumps'.  All the bumps are little furniture protectors.

When I finished, it looked too small and lost on the ceiling so I shopped at yard sales and found two round mirror frames - one plain and one that had spokes like a boat wheel. They fit just right and to tie the two outer circles together, I dabbed plaster around the crack by hand.

Now I'm never bored when I look at the ceiling, because I enjoy the medallion and remembering the fun I had 'building' it!  [Sorry I couldn't seem to get a better picture.]

suewhitney writes: You are too funny! You sound like me... look at every surface in your home and think it could be more interesting. Love your medallion and it does indeed spruce up the ceiling. The surface protector idea is very clever. You go girl!

Take care,
