Cruising & Junking on a Saturday Afternoon...
September 8th, 2008 in member junkOur day at Quail Crest Farm was awesome. (and, we even caught a garage sale on the way...bought a great old double metal laundry sink -barely visible from the rear shot of my van - it is filled and surrounded by mums...) My three girlfriends (Terri, Carol & Robin) and I strolled the grounds "oooohing and ahhhhhhing" over all the vendors' wares - italianpeasant's wonderful whitewashed furniture and "stuff", polymer jewelry, antiques, lots of "junk" art - (chandeliers made out of white wire garden fence - pics to come), dried flowers, gardens & greenhouse, etc., etc., etc...
Meeting my two new junkin' buddies was the icing on the cake! We're making plans for a little "junket" in October.
After Quail Crest we went into Wooster and antiqued, stopped for an ice cream, and shopped at the Habitat for Humanity's "Restore" - shoved a few more items in my van, and then drove the countryside looking for an antique mall - which we found, and speed shopped for 45 minutes...! It's not a perfect day until you can close a shop down! :)

Lesson of the day - don't forget the GPS...(just had a "few" wrong turns...)

That poor scale/armrest (LOL) had been antiqued with a faux wood finish...yikes...we're painting it a nice vintage teal and piling some dried hydrangeas on it - it'll probably sell right away! (fingers crossed anyway)
Will get pics of the chandelier, and my other "new" junk projects posted soon.

Looking forward to the metal garden fence chandelier post. My mil made one and used insulators as candle holders. Sue had some great ones early on in their junking years. It will be fun to see your version. Posted: 10:14 am on September 9th
Sounds like you had a great time. Aren't sales worth the getting lost for. I had 2 sets of those old laundry tubs. I sold one this summer at my sale. The other has a removable lid. I use it during the summer as a bar table and as storage in the winter. One year I did put large pots of flowers in each side and it looked great--for future reference.
