Wooden Champagne Crates

Two discarded champagne crates....love the yellow color and stencil.  Anyone have any idea how old they might be? 
Ive seen some wonderful ideas posted for wooden crates....would like to do something like turn these into an end table, but meanwhile....I turned the crate on its side and inserted a piece of wood for a shelf:  perfect for holding some of my daughters collection of mini-books on top and more books below. 
The second crate is stacked on top---waiting for its turn!

These champagne crates were a find--- I have a feeling they will have many lives....
