A lamp is a lamp, is a lamp...again!
May 12th, 2009 in member junkJust another routine stop at the local thrift stores (at lunchtime...), and look what I found. Sitting on a shelf - looking very cheesy and really outdated - almost ugly (to most people)...was this lamp. BUT, I loved it - and for less than $3.00 - it had potential! I picked it up right away, just loving the base - the limey green metal, and the flowers - it reminded me of the Brady Bunch or something...some definite flower power going on!!
When I got it home, I immediately pulled the burlap coated plastic stuff out of the base - along with anything electrical - there was even a little night-light inside (at one time, someone really thought this lamp was cool) - but that went too - I had other plans.
And, last night, in the midst of getting some projects finished for our show this weekend, my husband"volunteered" to put the light kit in (well...ok...I roped him into helping me, but I had my "to do" list, and was definitely on a mission to get those things checked off). He had it done in a matter of minutes (thank you!!), so I had to get it hung for a quick photo shoot.
I just love it - such a simple re-use of this lamp base - I really think it has wanted to be a hanging lamp for a long time (it's a natural, for sure!). So, all you lamp people (junkarchitect, etc...) - you've inspired me - this is dedicated to you!
Moral of the story...there are so many things that could be made into a lamp - even a lamp!

I would normally grab a can of spray paint, but this color was already perfect - and very 70s...and who doesn't love flowers??
I really think it was meant to be a hanging light too...guess it's been waiting for me to rescue it! :)

Very, very nice, shabs! If you get tired of the color someday, this would be easy to repaint.
