Meet the Cover Dog
May 5th, 2009 in blogI know this is not a project, but every once in awhile I have to throw in a good old human interest story. JMS contributor, Georgia sent me this picture of the pup that posed for the cover and owner Susi who graciously allowed us to disrupt her life for a quite some time as we photographed her property in California. While shooting at this beautiful location, Shadow (guess how he got his name) followed every move we made and protected us fron all the evils in the world. We became fast and forever friends! A while later we were shooting the cover of Junk Beautiful, Outdoor Edition at a different location, some distance away from Shadow's home. This junkyard dog must have had a feeling that something was going down he needed in on. For the first time since his owners adopted him he vacated the property in search of fame, fortune, and junk. As we were shooting photographer Doug looked up and asked, "Is that Shadow?" Sure enough it was! Shadow sat right down on the set and posed properly for about 2 hours without asking for overtime. Please notice the look that Shadow is giving the playground chipmunk. Forever the protector. Okay, so maybe Shadow did not find his fortune, but he did find himself on the cover of a book. Shadow is one fabulous junkyard dog!

The truck wasn't for sale but sure was pretty! Yes, I get a lot of smiles when I tell people my dream car is an old Chevy 5 window pick up (forest green with black fenders, please).
