My son is a welding fabricator, and we had a little too much fun creating this goofy lady for my yard this weekend! The best part was getting her into my car for the 3 hour trip home. She weighed about a zillion pounds!
Her head and hat are made from an old bug zapper we found on the farm. Her body is a giant spring I found at the scrap yard, and her hair is chain. In some of the pics if you look closely, you can see that she does have a HEART, and she is wearing her jewelry!
She is riding an old seed spreader that we found burried under the stairs to the loft in the barn. It actually still works, but the minute we saw it my son said she HAD to be riding it! Her chubby legs are off an old piece of equiptment we found behind one of the out structures!
He bent inch and a half bolts for her fingers, and she is holding a plant in one hand and a shovel (actually a steel shoe tree!) in the other. We named her Maxine after my daughter in laws Grandma who origfinally owned the property until she passed away.
As soon as I got her home, I planted the seed box with ivy geraniums and in the pot in her hand she carries lobelia. With 95 degree weather this week, they should fill in quickly! Once I get a pair of garden boots on her, she will be SET!
